Women Empowerment Campaingn

womenempowermentAn awarensss workshop on the law to prevent domestic violenceGramonnati Sansthan organised a cycle yatra of women in 65 villages to make women in remote villages about their rights and raise a voice against violence against women.

During the yatra, women used to stay at pre-decided spots and held meetings with women. These meetings used to discuss issues like increasing violence against women, dowry murders, burning women alive, sexual violence against girl child or trade of girls. Attempts were being made to awaken women and motivating women to raise their voice against injustice and atrocities.

A street play titled Hamein Jawab Do (give answer to us) was staged in the villages during the yatra. This play is based on the theme violence against women. After the play was staged questions were raised from the crowd. Several women made efforts to share their sad stories and vowed to fight the injustice.

The message that the cycle yatra reached the villages was that women started coming forth for being associated with the groups. Their confidence has gone up and they have started taking interest in those works which they and the society treated as men’s work and thought to be insulting in doing so.

Such campaigns definitely need to be repeated. If you want to support such campaign, please write to us.
